Official Rules

Checkpoint Tracker reserves the right to amend these rules at any time to ensure fair competition for all participants.

Last Updated 5/29/2010

General

  1. To earn points for any Checkpoint Tracker Event a Team MUST do the following:

    1. Create a Team profile at CheckpointTracker.com
    2. Add the Event to their Team Schedule (which creates a Squad)
    3. Complete the Squad profile by adding a Racer from their Team Roster to fill each open slot on the Squad
    4. Have their Registration confirmed by the Event Promoter

  2. Teams may compete in any combination of Events and Divisions.

  3. Racers are responsible for knowing and adhering to the rules of each Event.

  4. The Final Results of each Checkpoint Tracker Event are the responsiblity of that Event's Promoter. In the event of a protest, racers must appeal directly to the Event Promoter. Checkpoint Tracker will not be responsible for resolving protests relating to participating Events and will allocate points based on the final decision of the Event Promoter in the event that a protest is filed.

Teams

  1. There is no limit to the number of Racers that can belong to a Team and there is no limit on the total number of Racers from a Team that can compete at Events from which the Team's points total is derived. This is a revision to an earlier rule that instituted a limit of 7 Racers competing at Events from which the Team's points total is derived.

  2. A Team may send more than one Squad to an Event to compete in the same Division. Points earned by the highest ranking Squad will count towards the Team's points total and all other points will be discarded. If a Team sends more than one Squad to an Event and those Squads compete in different Divisions the Team will earn points and be ranked in each Division.

Points and Rankings

  1. Points will be allocated (and Rankings updated) according to the published Points Schedule after the Final Results from each Event have been submitted to Checkpoint Tracker by the Event Promoter.

  2. Points earned at each Event will contribute towards a Teams points total based on the Division they compete in. For example, if a Team competes at an Event in the 2 Person Open Division and at another in the Coed Elite Division they will be ranked separately in each Division.

  3. Each Team's points total, in each Division in which they are ranked, is determined by combining their 5 best weighted results for a maximum of 500 points.

Events are weighted by Type as follows:

    Type Weight
    Sprint 0.25
    Sport 0.50
    Adventure 1.0
    Expedition 2.0

    Examples

    2 Sport (2 x 0.50 = 1.0) + 2 Adventure (2 x 1.0 = 2.0) + 1 Expedition (1 x 2.0 = 2.0) = 5.0 weighted results

    20 Sprint (20 x 0.25 = 5.0) = 5.0 weighted results

    2 Sport (2 x 0.50 = 1.0) + 2 Expedition (2 x 2.0 = 4.0) = 5.0 weighted results

  4. In the event there is a tie in the overall Rankings, the winner will be determined in the following manner:

    1. Best result at the National Championshp
    2. Best result in head to head competition
    3. Total number of Checkpoint Tracker events attended

National Championship Qualification

  1. The top ranked Teams in each of Checkpoint Tracker's six Divisions will be invited to compete at the Checkpoint Tracker National Championship according to the following schedule:
