Series rolls on with double header this weekend

The Series is finally heading west again after a string of events on the east coast. A total of 47 teams will be racing at either the Desert Winds adventure race in Nevada or the AXS Buena Vista 24 in Colorado this weekend.

Salomon Crested Butte, a well know and accomplished team of professional athletes will be racing in Buena Vista at the Gravity Play AXS Buena Vista 24, their first Series event of the season. The team won the Gravity Play Adventure Xstream Series last year and are looking to duplicate that impressive performance while chasing Series points at the same time. Look for them to dominate the field from the start. Baring an injury, mechanical problem or alien abductions they are the clear favorite to win.

800 miles to the southwest the powerful racers of DART-nuun are also joining the hunt for Series points at the Desert Winds adventure race hosted by Kayak Lake Mead in Nevada.

Coming off an impressive win at the Baja Traversia, DART-nuun is looking for a first place finish to start their points chase with a solid 100 points.

The 2008 Checkpoint Tracker Adventure Racing Series is presented by Inov-8, makers of high quality outdoor gear including trail running shoes and multi-sport backpacks. Teams compete in the Series by attending Series events and earing points based on how they finish. Each teams points total at the end of the year is derived by combining their 4 best finishes. The top 3 teams, by points total, at the end of the season, which wraps up with the Upstate Adventure Race on October 25th in Cleveland, SC will share a $10,000 cash prize purse. The overall winner will also receive a FREE entry to the upcoming Terra Traverse Adventure Race, a new event produced by Ian Adamson, the sports winningest racer.
