Eastern Mountain Sports, WEDALI and Alpine Shop emerge as early contenders
With 5 races on the board Eastern Mountain Sports, WEDALI and Alpine Shop have pulled ahead of the field in the 2008 Checkpoint Tracker Adventure Racing Series presented by Inov-8.
EMS is out front with 290 points (after 3 one day races). 200 of those points come from impressive back to back wins at the Checkpoint Zero Adventure Race in Georgia and the Planet Adventure Race in Indiana.
If they manage another 1st place win then it would take a perfect 400 points to beat them.
That's a tall order, but remember that we still have 3 multi-day races on the calendar. Each of them counts as 2 of the 4 finishes a team may count towards their points total, but they're also worth 200 points each. Win one of those and two one day events and you beat EMS to win the Series.
WEDALI and Alpine Shop are neck and neck with 182 and 180 points respectively. That's after two one day races each. Both of these teams are likely to show up at Series events later in the season and both are likely to remain in contention for the top 10 if not the top 5.
